Carolyn Bradley (1898-1954) was a well-known Indiana and Ohio artist, whose specialty was watercolor although she also painted with oil, and subjects included landscapes, seascapes, industrial scenes, coastal views, and other marine subjects.

Bradley was educated in the Richmond, Indiana public schools and graduated from Earlham College with a B.A. Degree. She earned advance degrees in art from the University of San Miguel Allende in Mexico.

She was a professor of fine and applied arts at Ohio State University in Columbus from 1934 to 1954, and before that, taught for many years at Emmerich Manual Training High School in Indianapolis and before that at Richmond High School in Richmond.

In 1946, she was given a leave of absence from her University position to serve as an Ambassador of Good Will as a United States government consultant and teacher in arts and crafts in Santiago, Chile. She visited many art schools and consulted with teachers. Immediately preceding this appointment, she taught in the summer school of the University of Chile, also at Santiago. Other travels included painting trips in Portugal, Italy, Bavaria and the East Coast of the United States including Gloucester and Rockport, Massachusetts.

Bradley died on December 8, 1954, at age 56 in Indianapolis.
