Known for his views of life at the turn-of-the-19th into the 20th centuries, Alan Maley depicted elegantly dressed women in genteel settings that emphasize their leisurely pace of life. Many of his scenes are from Europe, especially Paris.

Born and raised in England, Alan came from an artistic and talented family who recognized and encouraged his abilities from the time he was a very young age. He was early involved in set painting for the motion picture industry, including Walt Disney Productions, which brought him to California, and he was awarded an Oscar for his visual effects in the Walt Disney production of "Bedknobs and Broomsticks".

While working in the movie industry, Maley found time to devote to his own paintings for which he gained inspiration from researching motion pictures set in the Victorian-era period.

In 1995, he died at age 64, leaving behind a large collection of artwork.
