Frank J. Girardin

(American, 1856-1945)

Frank Girardin was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1856. He studied art in Cincinnati under Frank Noble and later with Frank Duveneck at the Cincinnati Art Academy. Girardin was known primarily for his landscapes and unique use of color. He played for the Cincinnati Reds in the 1890s.

He spent the first part of his career in Richmond, Indiana between 1880 and 1910, and was the director of the Richmond Art Association. Eventually Girardin moved to California, living in Los Angeles first, then settling in Redondo Beach in 1920. He died in Redondo Beach in 1945.
